About me

Kylee lives in New Orleans and is currently pursuing her associates degree in visual communications and a certificate of photography at Delgado Community College. She works professionally as the in house studio photographer, social media manager, and shop experience manager for local women owned shop - Magpie Vintage and Estate Jewelry.

Born and raised in the midwest, Kylee grew up surrounded by open sky and expansive fields dotted with derelict houses of past lives. The multitude of boomtowns turned ghost that she witnessed informs her love of capturing moments in the city that makes humanity look small in contrast to the largeness of our temporary created environment.

Influences on her photographic style include Ansel Adams, Sally Mann, Brett Weston, Irving Penn, and Mary Ellen Mark.

She has always enjoyed pursuing creative endeavors in a multitude of physical mediums, but acknowledges that in our modern era the computer is a tool to be exploited for human gain.

She also is owned by two cats and is married to the love of her life of 13 years: hobnobber, maker of jokes, and carpenter Shem Derby.
